the insect in pic 12 looks like 'gerris spec.' (family gerridae, exact species undetermined). in german, their name is "water runner". but i have another question - why do you say "last day of summer"? here, we say autumn begins at september 21st or 22nd. of course, that puts the "mid autumn festival" to the end of summer, which sounds funny, but so what. of course, "last day of summer" may refer to the feeling of "summer ends", then there is no exact date. anyway, happy autumn to you. sebastian |

my pleasure. and i agree, the lunar calendar was invented to help farmers, so it will suit meteorological incidents better than the sun based calendar, where autumn begins when day and night have the same length. |
