Cherry season, the red fruits remind me the picture by Feng Zikai, '(The flying seasons)Redden cherry, green banana (leaves)'. Feng's one of my favorite artists, a traditinal chinese intellect, a sincere Buddhist. I use his pictures for this website. One is 'Redden cherry, green banana' (sorry, I don't know what is the verb of green, that will be the exact meaning). The picture at right bottom part of dropin account is named 'a late letter', it describes vividly the eagerness of a man got a late letter expected so long time, he opened it just bellow street lamp, can't wait to read it back at home, also the slippers suggest he's just hurried out room at night to get the letter from postman. The happiness and content fills his whole body when reading. It's a common second of a common man. I like it so much. The third picture is in the title part of each essay page, the line said 'The procession of books, line end stands at ease itself'. Such a cute and warm tone.
I don't have banana leaves, but I have a green fern. Cherry is red, fern is green.
It also matches well with a book of poems in Dreams in Red Chamber

The scenario of Mr. Feng's drawing
Dreams in Red Chamber is the greatest Chinese novel (I'd like not to use 'one of greatest' stereotype), it's so artistic, beautiful and tragic. It's a lost, incomplete masterpiece, to most of Chinese, this is the biggest tragic. However as usual, the most artistic novel is the hardest task for translation as it is so deep rooted to the native culture and society. For Red Chamber, it is even harder as it contains hundreds of beautiful, totally different style, top poems, in novel they are written by different characters. But we know, they are all written by the author, Mr. Cao, he's so so great.
This photo is somehow quite close to the taste of Dreams in Red Chamber, in my understanding. Elegant, delicate and poematic.
The line said:
'The fragrance floating over seat permeates into three lanes' nightdew,
The reader pushing away books gazes at one stem's autumn'
-- poem Cold Chrysanthemum word by word
Well, this flower doesn't match it very well, it's somehow over sunny, should be a solitude, light colored, long stem chrysanthemum.

to turn green, something is greening ...
(there is no single verb exactly matching the meaning)
by coincedence (it is cherry time!) there is also a new cherry photo on my page, but it does not compare to yours. sooo nice!
and, concerning the world cup: i wish it was that way! i can not find it nice to be kept from sleeping by stupidly celebrating soccer fans who use their car horns at 11:30 PM for no apparent reason.
especially when the match already had finished at 5 PM ...
hope i can put my soccer fan pictures online tonight.
noooooo football
noooooo football
noooooooooo football for me !

Ah, your cherry is quite nice. A single red in deep green, a very fashion style. Color is so good. :)
more flowers by sebastian
All flowers are very nice. Em, I see linden flower close up now, beautiful. A lot of very cool pictures, the bugs, blackberry from buds to new fruits... I like them, especially the color and hue.
By the way, I happen to know what's the first one: Nerium indicum Mill., dogbane oleander. It's also common here, we call it 'bamboo peach'.
So you are not for football at all, haha. I am a 'fake football fans', I only pay attention to world cup, because you can never expect the result, very dramatic. I like stories of uncertainty. Also the true fans on TV is very interesting. ;)
Recently I think one style is very interesting, that is, in a very complicated environment, such as on a very busy crowdy street of Shanghai, or Paris or whatever other city as some photo shows, take a picture, but still it clearly shows your attitude, your focus, with all chaos surrounding included. That is very cool, full of stories. But I don't know how to. Maybe need a long lens? Not sure...
Ah, your set of music club show is very very good! Each person is so personalized!
the hope awosusi sextet at the check in
Also the 2005 fall serie, a lot of nice ones...

do you refer to street photography?
well, trying long focus lens won't help in all situations. usually, the short focus (wide angle) puts a lot more emphasis on the environment and well catches the sometimes chaotic and complicated atmosphere. of course, wide angle means, you must get close to the subject. and this is where the problem lies - as photographer, you are no longer a beholder, but you are part of "it". it takes quite some courage and boldness ... and i must confess, that this is where i usually fail. so, as far as i see, street photography is quite demanding.
nevertheless, it is among the most interesting areas!
em, thanks a lot for your kind words.
:-)

Yes, the morning fog street photos. include one of the office top with blue sky one, that one is very impressive and abstract.
They ARE very nice. Not just compliments at all. :)
I also think it is very hard, when I look at the people flood on street, I know I can't do it. I can't catch any information in it...
But that is really very interesting. There must be some information there, I just can't see yet.
I also think I can't step into the event to express any idea. That's just too much. Need a very open mind.

hm, i need to object.
while open mindedness helps, i believe here you might put too much emphasis on the aesthetical side. when on the street, realizing, and quick reaction are more important (and of course the courage). so, reacting on the impulse of having seen "something interesting" it the starting point. of course, you can train your eye - i once learned a good lesson from an article asking for elaborating on the question "what do i find interesting?". the idea was, to visually express what you find interesting, and use the existing (possible) photographic tools and measures to do so.
now, on the street, seeing a subject of interest, and knowing how to bring this to the photographic picture is the technical part of the task. actually lifting the camera and pressing the button is the harder part ...
trying to use openmindedness (alone) to master this will use up too much mental capacity. you end up considering aesthetical details, while your subject of interest is already miles away, even if it was a snail!
so, yes, you can train the process, which will speed up the picture taking. keep in mind, that probably 80% of the result is for the dustbin from the beginning.
and, when talking of photographin buildings ... they run as fast as mountains. just find the right light and get your picture!
em, my skills in street photography may seem good, but, just take a look on the real masters like winogrand, and cartier-bresson ... and you see, that i am such a tiny light ...
still, it is big fun. joy. delight.
as any creative activity.

why buildings run as fast as mountians? :-|

Ah, I see, you mean they are still.
I guess Georgia will do well in street photograhing, she always looks in all directions and search for interesting part. Very discovery type. The only drawback of that is, sometimes she's suspected as a possible thief by very alertive passengers. ;))

:-D
well ... still better than stumbling over passengers while crossing nanjing xilu and being suspected of pickpocketing.
