I hope you did not take a hurt from earthquake.
(Turkey).
Earthquake has made us very sad, you know we met a major one (7.4) here
1999, and we live 10km far from the exact place.
elephants in Africa
Yesterday I heard the news about Indonesia Earthquake and Tsunamis on early morning taxi. Today the figure of death goes higher and higher in South and South-east Asia. Over 20,000 now and is increasing.
China is quite ok, only some minor earthquakes happen in Yunnan Province yesterday. And tsunamis also didn't reach here. So we just discuss about it, get some knowledge about what is tsunamis.
Today I got a VH from Turkey, in the work email, the guy greets me with:
'I hope you did not take a hurt from earthquake.'
I think it over, well, it is not a very pleasant one but he's really out of good concern. So I said, 'Thank you. Luckily I am in China and the earthquake didn't reach so far. But that's really a tragety in South Asia...'
Then he replied on top of other work stuff,
'Earthquake has made us very sad, you know we met a major one (7.4) here 1999, and we live 10km far from the exact place.'
I don't know how to reply. I feel really sorry for this poor person. Maybe he lost somebody in 1999, and this earthquake reminds him all the sadness...
So I just say, hope you all fine now and Happy New Year.
Earthquake is so near to us in such a way.
But sometimes it is very funny.
Last week a South Africa customer reported PRD down for lightning.
'What? You mean lightning hit your server yesterday?' I repeated on phone.
'Yes.'
Well, at least I succeeded to keep my voice very solemn and serious. :)))
Em, suppose it will be better if I can say 'sir, I am so sorry for your last server...' in a low low tone...
All I can think of is the elephants walking on the wide wide African plain under slashing lightning. Now seems all the elephants are replaced by some IBM machines or HP servers... Haha
So when I put off the line and announce to my colleague that there's a PRD server down in Africa for lightning. They all laugh and say, so the solution is: get a lightning rod.
Well, I am really sorry for the trouble they face, but the reason is really exceptional.
Anything can happen in this world.
